Volume 02
As the world speeds by, the dreams we experience keep us grounded in reality. The reality of COVID-19’s effect on the world shook all our hearts and spirits. No words can express the grief that we share for our fellow humankind. As I sit sipping my coffee at my desk, in deep reflection on our current state of existence, I realize we rarely get the oppurtunity to sit and enjoy the roads we’ve traveled and the deeds we have accomplished. We quickly take a snap with our phone and move on to the next task at hand. The word “task” echos with a harsh reality. Like many of you, I can’t recall the exact moment our passion turned into a task. The drive for content to fill the empty voids on our timeline or social media pages developed into a burdensome pursuit. The thing that once brought us joy was now a wave of anxiety and expectations. We have traveled so far, but I can’t fight the feeling that someone or something has stolen our joy.
The warm contents of my cup no longer brought the satisfying taste. Something must be done. Despite the overwhelming proof of the contrary, I firmly believe that print is not dead. It is merely asleep and waiting to be awakened, to be appreciated. For this issue I wanted to tell the stories we sometimes miss in our pursuit of the next adventure, the next swipe of our thumb, and comment we like. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy content just like many of you, but it no longer satifsifeid our pursuit. We rarely have the oppurtunity to read the stories or find the appreciation of hard work. Photographers are working twice as hard with itineraries to match major airline pilots. The very thing that brought us together was now tearing us apart. Did we potentially travel too far? Did the world somehow become smaller? When we launched Enginethusiast Magazine, we decided to pursue happiness in a familiar but alternative way, and with that in mind, I would like to welcome you to Volume 02. We promise to live, and live fully. We promise to share the stories that inspire and encourage. We promise to support those that work hard. We promise to bring joy back into your life. The 2020 Pandemic might have put the world on its axis, but we are still here. We have been given the chance to heal, rebuild, and start fresh. As we slowly move foward, let’s appreciate those that accompany us on this journey. Let’s share our adventures and enjoy the roads we may travel. So shall it be written and so shall it be done. Godspeed traveler.
